Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) has been shown to decrease post-traumatic stress symptoms, abuse-related fears, sexualized behavior, depression, anxiety, shame and behavior problems in traumatized youth. It can also improve their ability to recognize and respond effectively to unsafe or abusive situations. For caregivers, TF-CBT has been shown to decrease abuse-related distress and depression, as well as improve parenting skills and the caregiver’s support of the child.
