Given the Covid-19 pandemic and the shift to working remotely, this FAQ answers questions regarding program implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) and Bounce Back groups via tele-delivery.
Can the program be implemented virtually?
Yes. The CBITS website provides several general suggestions for remote delivery of the program. Some elements of CBITS and Bounce Back can be used to address the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic (without a specific trauma or PTSD symptoms). If used, the trained clinician or group leader can draw in COVID-19 related examples and stressors rather than using the stress and trauma examples listed in the manual.
What assistance has the developer provided/continuing to provide?
The developer(s) recognize that schools are undergoing a major transition due to the effects of COVID-19. They are working with national partners, and have developed a guidance document and suggestions for implementing school-based trauma interventions during the pandemic.
The webpage also lists additional COVID resources available HERE.
